Acqua e luoghi magici…

L’acqua ha sempre rivestito un’importanza fondamentale nella vita dell’umanità. Molto spesso alle fonti, ai fiumi, ai laghi ed ai mari è associata una Ninfa o una Dea o un Dio. A volte con poteri curativi altre con poteri distruttivi.

Ce ne sono moltissimi esempi, ne cito solo alcuni, nei prossimi post ne indicherò altri:

La Sorgente di Feronia che si trova nel Centro Italia alla Roccadi Narni ed è uno dei luoghi più sacri. Alcuni studiosi ritengono che Feronia era un’antica divinità italica che veniva adorata ancora prima che i Romani si imponessero sull’Umbria.

Feronia era considerata la dea della Primavera ed a lei erano sacri molti dei fiumi e dei boschi nel territorio da Terracina a Viterbo.

Un tempo la fonte sacra alla Ninfa era circondata da un bosco, ma i primi Cristiani idi Narni abbatterono il Tempio, bruciarono il Bosco e cosparsero del sale e da allora fu chiamato Macchia Morta.

Dover… Tutti conoscono le famose scogliere, ma ben pochi sanno perché sono bianche. Narra la leggenda che un mitico re vichingo possedeva una nave gigantesca, così grande che si poteva girare a cavallo. Questa nave si trovò a dover passare il canale della Manica, ma il re disperava di poter passare, tanto era largo il suo vascello. Pregò così le divinità dell’acqua. Una Ninfa gli consigliò di cospargere i fianchi della nave con del sapone in modo che così potesse scivolare fra le scogliere. Il re seguì il consiglio, ma strusciò contro le scogliere che si impiastricciarono di sapone rimanendo così bianche.

Il Triangolo delle Bermuda che tutti conoscono. Si sono avute delle scomparse di persone, velivoli, navi, ma spesso si sono ritrovate le navi senza alcuna traccia di persone o animali e tesori intatti. Si dice che al Triangolo ci siano delle strutture megalitiche a circa 6 metri sotto il livello del mare e disposte per una lunghezza si 600 metri, che non hanno alcuna spiegazione razionale e non trovano alcuna collocazione fra i reperti archeologici. Qualcuno è arrivato ad ipotizzare che quei resti possano essere la famosa Atlantide che molti cercano.

Vacanze

Ormai è tempo di vacanza. Lunedì finalmente iniziano effettivamente le meritate vacanze di Agosto.

Quest’anno vado in Germania, Foresta Nera, a contatto con la Natura come l’anno scorso il Galles.

Purtroppo non ci sono molte informazioni, ci sono pochissimi siti e tutto in Tedesco.

Non vedo l’ora di partire, non posso che augurare a tuti voi un sereno Agosto e delle splendide ed indimenticabili ferie.

Petizione: Salva la terra dei Nativi Amricani

Whereas, the Tribal Coalition of six Arizona tribes has stated that the proposed mining operation of Resolution Copper is within the ancestral lands of the sovereign native nations of the Apache, Yavapai, Hopi, and O’Odham Indian Communities.

Whereas, Apache Leap area has been and continues to be of great cultural, subsistence and spiritual significance to numerous federally recognized native American Tribes throughout the region.

Whereas, the proposed site is on United States and Arizona State Public Lands, including Oak Flat, Apache Leap and Devils Canyon, and should be preserved for tribal ceremony and culture, recreation, habitat and watershed.

Whereas, the proposed land exchange will be turning public land into private domain, which will avoid the environmental impact evaluations and oversight regulations required on public lands.

Whereas, there must be a hydrological study that would assure that the public water supply of Superior, Arizona, the waters of Queen Creek, and the waters of National Forest will not be depleted or polluted by the mining operations.

Whereas, the mining waste is calculated to be equivalent to a 20-story building spread over 2,389 acres of land, which will despoil the scenic landscape.

Whereas, we are in agreement with the following Tribal Coalition letter.

NOW, THEREFORE, we, the undersigned, do hereby

1) Request the President to comply with all requests made in the Tribal Coalition letter of June 20, 2007.

2) Request the President to continue the protection provided to Oak Flat by President Eisenhower in 1955 as an important recreational resource.

3) Request the President to protect Oak Flat, Apache Leap and Devils Canyon from any and all destruction by mining, industry, housing development or any other endeavor that would destroy this region, its beauty, its recreational value, and its traditional Native American heritage.

Re: Objection to the Southeastern Arizona Land Exchange and the Resolution Copper Mining Project.

Dear Honorable President Bush:

On behalf of the undersigned coalition of sovereign Tribes and Nations (Tribal Coalition), the Tribal Coalition objects to the proposal by Resolution copper Company (Resolution copper) to construct and operate an unprecedented block-caving mining operation in Gil County, Arizona, within the ancestral lands of the sovereign Native Nations of the Apache, Yavapai, Hopi, and O’Odham Indian community. The proposed mining operation will, among other things, result in the destruction, violation, and desecration of certain lands sacred to those Native Nations, including areas referred to by non-Indians as Oak Flat, Apache Leap and Devils Canyon, and adversely impact our ability to continue important practices of our religion and culture.

In addition, the mining project proposed by Resolution Copper will wrongfully deplete or contaminate the water resources found in nearby watersheds and aquifers, leaving the neighboring Native Nations and nearby communities in Southwestern Arizona to deal with the permanent religious, cultural, and environmental damages of this massive mining project – damages that will continue long after the parent companies of Resolution Copper, foreign mining interests Rio Tinto PLC and BHP Billiton, Ltd, have reaped the profits from the copper ore and water removed from these lands and any economic benefit of the mine to the local community has long since faded.

The Tribal Coalition also objects to any form of legislative land exchange which would allow or enable Resolution Copper to acquire or use Oak Flat campground and the approximately 2,300 acres of surrounding public lands for its mining purposes, including the removal of many tons of copper ore (and water) through a process of underground tunnels and block-caving, causing massive surface subsidence, and in many instances, the complete destruction of the surface features of Oak Flat and the corresponding desecration of Apache Leap.

Contrary to some suggestions, Congressional legislation, like that of the Southwestern Arizona Land Exchange and Conservation Act, which was drafted behind closed doors and without Tribal consultation or public input, and introduced tin Congress in 2005 and again in 2006, fails to provide any meaningful protection for Apache Leap, and would ignore the cultural, religious and historic significance of Apache Leap and the surrounding area in the Western Apache culture (Footnote 1). This is profoundly wrong and certainly not within the public interest as contemplated by the Federal Land Policy Management Act, 43 U.S.C. 1701 et seq. The Tribal Coalition asks your support in opposing any federal legislation which would transfer Apache Leap (with or without a “conservation easement”), and the surrounding public lands to private ownership for the benefit of foreign mining interests.

Resolution Copper’s proposal to acquire the 760 acres of the Oak Flat campground for its mining activities through a legislative land exchange also renders meaningless the express protection provided to Oak Flat since its recognition as an important recreational resource during President Eisenhower’s Administration in 1955. Oak Flat, and the surrounding areas, has been an important place for the gathering of medicinal herbs and traditional food for the Apache since time immemorial. The unique and sensitive ecosystem of the Oak Flat and Apache Leap area also provide important habitat for many different types of plants, animals, and songbirds, some of which are listed under the Endangered Species Act. The Tribal Coalition cannot, on any basis support a legislative land exchange which would allow the destruction of those culturally significant and environmentally important lands, especially where the devastating impacts from the mining activities to be conducted on, around and underneath Oak Flat and Apache Leap will continue forever, leaving future generations to suffer from the legacy of damage left behind.

It is axiomatic that mining operations, especially copper mines like the block-caving operations proposed by Resolution, eventually result in the contamination and depletion of the surface and groundwater (and sediments and soils), not only in the immediate area of the mining operation, but often throughout the adjoining and related aquifers. It is simply not a matter of “if”, but “when.” The truth is that the United States short term experience with mines of this type does not provide it with adequate information to evaluate the long-term and irreparable effects of such massive form of underground mining, which may take many centuries for these very real impacts to fully manifest. These impacts, coupled with the cumulative environmental effects of other significant mining activities in the region, must not be lightly case aside by Congress or others who may be persuaded by Resolution Copper’s promise of short term economic gain and employment.

The Tribal Coalition has not been given any opportunity to review a mining plan of operations for the proposed project, and the Coalition is unaware of any models or studies conducted by or for Resolution Copper which provide empirical and realistic predictions as to the amount of water that the mining project will use or removed from the surrounding aquifers and watersheds. Water required for the mining and processing of the copper ore will permanently deplete billions of gallons of water each year. “Dewatering” of the mine during mining activity will require the removal of many more billions of gallons of water per year. Finally, the alteration of both the subsurface and surface structure of this area as a result of the block-caving process will permanently alter the natural state of the aquifers and surface drainage of the watersheds in the area. Resolution Copper should be required to outline the full impact of its mining project on the surrounding aquifers and watershed, and to justify its legal right to the use of such water, before Congress or any public agency or department of the United States allows any form of mining to begin on or around these lands.

Finally, while Resolution Copper has spent a great deal of money and effort to create the impression that it will act as a good steward of the local environment, it is important to recall that Resolution Copper is, in fact, the creation of two of the largest foreign mining corporations in the world, Rio Tinto PLC and BHP Billiton, Ltd. It is clear that the driving interest of Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton does not include the cultural concerns of the Tribal Coalition or even the long term environmental protection of southwestern Arizona, but rather is exclusively driven by the need to obtain the greatest profit for mostly foreign shareholders.

Moreover, Rio Tinto has a long history of serious environmental problems and is know throughout the world for its alleged human rights violations and mistreatment of indigenous cultures from the Americas, to Australia and Papua New Guinea. BH Billiton also has a legacy of environmental problems that should not be ignored.

Once the sacred lands and environment of Oak Flat, Apache Leap and Devils Canyon have been desecrated and destroyed by the mining operation of Resolution Copper, they can never be restored. The environmental consequences and harm to the religion, culture, and identity of the Apache, Yavapai, Hopi, and O’Odham Indian Community cannot be mitigated or required by any promise of Congress or that of Resolution Copper. We strongly urge you to reject and oppose any proposal in Congress for a legislative land exchange, and implore you to support a detailed ad hard look at the mining operations proposed by Resolution Copper in this culturally significant and environmentally sensitive area of southeastern Arizona.

Disintossicazione da questo mondo

Ne ho un grande ed immenso bisogno.

Più mi guardo attorno più vedo: critiche, cattiverie, offese, mancanza di rispetto per razza/religione/sesso/idee, derisione, mancaza di rispetto per la vita, menefreghismo, odio, guerre e chi più ne ha più ne metta.

La storia di questa terra è costellata di eventi che hanno segnato profondamente (anche negativamente) il nostro Pianeta che sta iniziando (veramente ha iniziato da molto) a lanciare il suo disperato grido di aiuto e si difende come può dalla crudeltà innata di questi piccoli esseri (umani) che la popolano.

Credo che se la Terra potesse si prenderebbe una bella e lunga vacanza disintossicante ed io la seguirei a ruota, ma non credo sarei l’unica.

Mi domando quando la gente inizierà a capire che sia con la Terra che con le Persone non si può dire e fare quello che si vuole, uno può essere libero, ma la mia libertà non deve prevalere sulla libertà di un altro, ma è questo che accade. Tutti cercano di prevaricare dalle piccole ed insignificanti cose a quelle grandi, mors tua vita mea, praticamente e questo sta prendendo sempre più piede nella mente collettiva.

Guardo il tg (raramente veramente perchè mi ha nauseato) e vedo: persone travolte da ubriachi/drogati che rovinano la loro vita ma rovinano ancora di più quella degli altri; persone che vengono picchiate mentre a gente passa e nessuno fa nula; un povero disgraziato 10enne che viene investito e la gente gli cammina accato senza aiutarlo e le macchine lo evitano; donne in difficoltà che vengono stuprate o altro e tutti tirano dritto, e molto altro.

Quando ero più giovane io tutta questa indifferenza non esisteva, la vita aveva un valore, quello che avevamo noi giovani ce lo conquistavamo con il sudore della fronte, mentre ora nemmeno fanno in tempo ad aprire la bocca che già hanno quello che vogliono; la vita altrui era rispettata… Ma cos’è successo in quesi ultimi anni? Possibile che il cambiamento sia così radicale?

Ora vengono premiate le persone che fanno gesti che salvano le altre persone (che spesso se ne vanno strafregandosene della vita altrui, che magari è finita per salvare quella di un altro), ma non dovrebbe essere la norma? Non dovrebbe essere la cosa più normale di questo mondo?

Non dovrebbe esserci un profondo rispetto per la propria e per l’altrui vita?

Non dovrebbe esserci un profondo rispetto per il mondo che ci ospita? Mi domando perchè la gente non si domanda come mai la Terra si sta così ribellando: innondazioni, terremoti, uragani sempre più frequenti, frane, alluvioni e molto altro. La nostra Terra si sta difendendo da quello che deve subire ogni giorni: disboscamenti, incendi provocati da piromani idioti, scavi, dighe e molto altro ancora.

La Terra ha un’anima e sta gridando di dolore.

Ma nessuno se ne interessa. Perchè in alcune zone non accadono i disastri ed in altre sì? Ce se lo domanda?

Perchè si continua a disposcare senza un minimo di criterio?

Perchè si coninuano a costruire case quando ce ne sono ancora di vuote?

Perchè si costruiscono sempre edifici nuovi e gli altri vengono lasciati all’abbandono?

Perchè non si ritrivano i valori di una volta?

Perchè non si rispettano più gli altri?

Perchè il mondo è cambiato così in peggio?

Troppi perchè ci sono e forse nessuno troverà una risposta.

Io so solo che mi prenderei un periodo di disintossicazione da tutto questo e sono sicura che se lo chiedessi alla Nostra Amata Terra mi risponderebbe di sì anche Lei.

Tramonto

Ieri sera sono salita in camera presto, non avevo voglia di stare al pc.

Ho aperto la finestra e sono rimasta a bocca aperta, uno splendido tramonto si è presentato ai miei occhi.

Ho sorriso e mi sono goduta quel momento. Non udivo alcun rumore, ero solo io e il tramonto, mi sono estraniata completamente. I colori erano splendidi….

Mi sono sdraiata a letto tenendo la finestra aperta finchè l’ultimo raggio di sole non è sparito completamente lasciando spazio ad una bella serata stellata.

Il fresco della sera mi ha sfiorato il volto come una dolce carezza rassicurante.

Mi sentivo bene e in pace con me stessa in quel momento. Non avrei voluto essere da nessun’altra parte se non lì a rimirare prima il tramonto e poi le stelle.

Mi sono sentita rigenerata e felice…
